Hello, my name is Irina Tübbecke

Founder of The Makeup Council

I’ve been a makeup artist and hairdresser for over 30 years, starting at 16 in Jason’s Hairpower salon in West Berlin. There, I learned cutting, coloring, and styling. My journey expanded when I worked on an American film set in Berlin, handling period hairstyles and makeup. Seeking to refine my skills, I enrolled at the Greasepaint school in London. Back in Berlin, I took on the makeup department for “Dr. Faustus Lights the Lights,” a play by Robert Wilson, touring Europe and reaching Broadway. Next, I built up the makeup department at VOX TV in Cologne, working on TV series and movies like “Amelie” and “Agnes und seine Brüder.” Returning to Berlin, I worked as a designer on German films and series like “Die Welle”,“Maria,Ihm schmeckt’s nicht ”, and “Fleisch ist mein Gemüse”, “4 Blocks“ as well as international productions like “Counterpart”, “Man in the High Castle”, “Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” and “Origin.”

Seeking courses was vital for me to stay ahead in the industry. However, I often faced challenges finding the right workshops due to timing or availability. This struggle led me to rethink the traditional approach and turn the tables. Instead of always seeking out courses elsewhere, I realized the value of bringing experts to Berlin.

The idea for the workshops stemmed from my own experience and the needs I observed in the industry. I wanted to create a platform where professionals like myself could access high-quality training without the hassle of traveling abroad. So, I began developing the concept of hosting workshops right here in Berlin.

I carefully handpicked experts in various fields, the goal is to create an environment where participants could learn from industry leaders and connect with like-minded individuals. By flipping the script and inviting experts to share their skills in Berlin, I aimed to bridge the gap in accessible education within the industry.
