The focus of this course is to train you on the fundamentals of creating cornrows or braids with and without hair extension on coiled and curly hair textures and how to attach weft extensions using the sewing method, blending and styling the hair. Through practical demonstrations you will be taken through a step-by-step process of creating 3 complete styles over the 3 days. The hairstyles you will be learning are as follows: Cornrows Box braid / Knotless Braids (feed-in-method) Silk-Press with hair weft extensions.
We will also explore the differences between plant-based extensions, which are emerging as the sustainable choice for the future, and traditional chemically treated extensions.
Day 1: Cornrows & Box Braids
- focusing on braiding the hair with no addition of hair extensions or hair pieces.
- Proper body, hand, and finger positioning
- Key tools and product recommendations
Day 2: Knotless Box Braids with Extensions
- Introduction to hair extensions (Expressions Hair) and their types
- Color mixing techniques to create custom color tones
- Sectioning and pattern techniques for knotless box braids
- Preparing and blending hair extensions (Expressions Hair)
- Finishing techniques for braids (straight or curled ends)
- Optional: Bead finishing
Day 3: Weft Extensions & Silk Press
- Preparing and blow-drying hair for weft extensions
- Silk press techniques for straight extensions
- Creating a strong yet flexible micro cornrow base for sewing in weft extensions
- Styling options for weft extensions (straight, curled, or voluminous looks)
